Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Ok, I've tried everything, searched everywhere and nothing has worked and I am 100% certain that my issue is very uncommon. Here it is- After 1-1/2 years of never having any issues, one day my laptop says "can't connect to this network". This is my home Xfinity wireless network. I have ZERO issues with smart phones, iPads, FireTv, etc. and even another HP laptop connecting to the same home network. My laptop (the one I'm having trouble with) WILL connect to my Xfinity open network, my cell phone's hotspot wifi and any other networks that I try to connect to, open or secure. So, I reset my Xfinity modem/router and voila'! It connected no problem. However, this only lasted about a day and then same thing all over again. I can forget my home network, scan & find and re-enter password but it will not connect, UNLESS I reset the router again. That's just not sustainable as a solution.

For what it's worth, I notice that my wifi adapter is now labeled WIFI 2? And I just don't recall if it has always been like that. I have UNINSTALLED/ REINSTALLED the adapter, downloaded drivers, and tried all the other "problem solved" fixes that are pretty much everywhere online. Still won't connect to my home, secure Xfinity network more than a day without having to reset the modem. But remember, it will connect to other secure/open networks, and none of my other devices are having any issues. At this point, I'm dead in the water... I would appreciate any help because I'm close to buying a new laptop and it won't be an HP...

@Solsand Welcome to HP Community!

It is possible that the network connection has been corrupted, which causes the WiFi router not working or connecting. So you can reset the TCP/IP stack and fix the problem in Windows 10.

1. Use Windows shortcut keys Win + X to launch the Jump List, and then select Command Prompt (Admin).

2. Type the command lines listed below into the box and press the Enter.

  • netsh int ip reset reset.log

  • netsh winsock reset catalog

3. Wait until Windows finish its jobs, and then restart the computer.

If the issue persists, please uninstall the network adapter, restart the computer and update the latest network driver from the HP website: click here to find and install the same

Keep me posted, as I (Or a trusted colleague) shall follow-up on this case to ensure the concern has been addressed,

And your device is up and running again, only in case you don't get back to us, first!

That said, If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That'll help us, and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.
