Not really a factor as this problem has occurred out the box, on two new machines, before any programs were installed. with the second machine I deliberately didn't install anything at all to verify that the problem was occuring on a fully clean machine out fo the box.

 

I have now installed office 365, and Avid Protools. I have uninstalled McAfee because one of the microsoft communitiy forums indicated it may be related to this. This also has not worked.

 

I purchased this machine last saturday, and the problem persisted from the start. The store replaced the machine for a new machine and said they've disabled the windows update in the belief that was causing the problem. It wasn't becasue the problem continued on the new machine.

 

As I write this the connection has dropped again, following some changes made to the connection setting suggested by a user with the same "default gateway not available" issue.

 

It does feel like I have tried just about everything.

My hp envy 360 has become a nightmare. My wireless connection disconnects every 2 mins and I have to click repair only for it to keep happening. I have updated everything as suggested and spent a lot of time with tech support. The laptop is <2 months old,  Is there any solution as this amount to significant productivity loss for me. I may have to buy another laptop otherwise.

My machine is a Pavillion, less than a week old, and I've spent the last week trying every fix I can find that doesn't involve downloading questionable registry edit software.

 

The last thing I tried was to uninstall the driver for the Realtek wifi adaper completely then do a restart. At restart the machine will reinstall the driver. That was a few hours ago and so far it's not dropped yet, however I've been here before. Just as I start to think I've fixed the problem, it drops again but, so far so good.

 

If you haven't already it's probably worth a try.

If I am to understand you correctly, you are saying that without adding any software after first turning the PC on, without logging in to any accounts, you were having this problem. If this is true, then that shows it is not related to any software, programs, or files you have added. Further, I take it that when HP replaced the machine, they did *not* transfer any data, accounts, or programs from the original PC?

From your last post, it seems your problem has been resolved. If not(and if the answer to above is no, no sotware installed before the problem, and no data transferred), then we are coming down to last ditch efforts to fix the problem. Some of this would be easier if you have a second PC to download the appropriate drivers/software with. What I would say is to try reinstalling Windows. To start, obtain or make an install disk/flash drive for Windows 10(i.e. not HPs install disk, just regular windows 10), and make sure to find, write down, or save any registration key for Windows 10 which you can find. Next, save and download all the appropriate drivers/software from the individual companies(i.e. Realtek or Intel, instead of HP). Save these on another flash drive/DVD/external drive. If there is any other data that you would still want to save from your PC, put this on a third flash drive/DVD/external drive. Then completely erase your hard drive with software designed for this purpose, with it writing zeros/random data to it afterwards. This will ensure there is no software that could possibly be causing a conflict(whether it came from HP or elsewhere), and no possibility of any data that could corrupt your otherwise healthy Windows installation. Then you would reinstall Windows, reinstall the drivers, and hopefully that may fix your problem. If this is something that you are going to attempt to do, and you have any questions about how or where to do or get any of this, let me know, I will try to help you.

Furthermore, if you do succeed in finishing this process, and the problem persists, you could look into changing the network card. On my HP laptop, the network card is a little card located under the door which you would remove to add or replace RAM. Yours may or may not be as simple to replace.

All that said, if it were me, I would seriously consider taking the computer back for a refund.
