HP ProBook 450 G2
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I haven't been able to get Bluetooth working on my HP ProBook 450 G2. If I'm Devices and Printers and click "Add a device" it doesn't find any of multiple bluetooth devices working.

If I search through the list of devices in Control panel / Device manager, I can't find any Bluetooth devices.

This page https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c01948661 refers to a HP Bluetooth driver that needs to be downloaded. However when I follow the link on that page and put my model number into the search parameters I get three Bluetooth related options (none of which is the HP Bluetooth driver):

  • Broadcomm Bluetooth Software
  • Intel Bluetooth Driver
  • Intel Bluetooth Driver for 7260/3610 WLAN

If I install the Broadcomm Bluetooth Software, I am given the option to Update the existing software. When I choose this I get a message saying "No Bluetooth device was detected. Please make sure that your Bluetooth devices is plugged in properly to continue installation."

If I try to install either of the Intel Bluetooth Drivers I get a popup saying "This program might not have installed correctly". The popup has an option to "Reinstall using recommended settings". If I click this option I just get the same popup again.

According to this product spec page, the HP ProBook 450 G2 is meant to come with Bluetooth preinstalled...

https://support.hp.com/id-en/product/hp-probook-450-g2-notebook-pc/6943826/document/c04355112#AbT6

So, I have two questions: a) Is it possible that my laptop doesn't have Bluetooth capacity? and b) If it doesn have the capacity, how can I get it working?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Did you upgrade/downgrade your machine ? HP Probook 450 G2 is a series of many different models/products of many configurations/options. Your machine can have one of the following wifi cards

● QCA 802.11 b/g/n 1x1 (Marilyn) Backup
● Broadcom 802.11 a/b/g/n 2x2 +BT Combo (Bumblebee) w/o WiDi
● Broadcom 802.11 b/g/n 1x1 +BT Combo (Harrier) Backup
● Realtek 802.11 b/g/n 1x1 (Focus)
● Realtek 802.11 b/g/n 1x1 +BT Combo (Skyray)
● Intel 802.11 a/b/g/n/AC 2x2 +BT Combo (Wilkins Peak 2) - no vPro
● Intel 802.11 a/b/g/n/AC 1x1 +BT Combo (Wilkins Peak 1)

As you can see, not all of them have Bluetooth.

Now please go ri Device Manager to see which is the wireless card on your computer.

Hi Banhien,

In Device Manager, I see the following...

  • Broadcom BCM943228HMB 802.11abgn 2x2 Wi-Fi Adapter
  • Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter
  • Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller

So presumably none of these have Bluetooth?

Regards,

Clay
