HP Spectre Rechargeable Mouse 700 does not pair or connect

This is intended to answer this original question, which has been close due to inactivity (so, I couldn't post an answer): Pairing HP Spectre Rechargeable Mouse 700 to Multiple Devices.

Instructions on the page said to post a new question in order to continue the discussion.

Question:

How to Bluetooth-pair a HP Specter Rechargeable Mouse 700, because it only seems to pair using the wireless USB dongle.

Answer:

1. On your Windows or Mac computers start the search for Bluetooth devices. If you don't know how, please look for instructions to do so. These steps only detail what to do on the mouse.

2. Turn on the mouse.

3. Short-press the Pairing Button for less than 2 seconds. This tells the mouse which connection to use. With each press, you'll see one of the four lights to the left of the Pair Button light up. It will cycle through the Wireless connection and the three Bluetooth connections. Select one of the Bluetooth connection lights. After a moment the light will go off, but it's still selected.

4. Long-press the Pairing Button for more than 3 seconds. You'll see the light above the power switch begin to strobe between white and amber.

5. On your Win or Mac, wait for the mouse to appear as "HP Spectre Mouse 700". When it does, select it in order to connect.

That should do it.

In order to connect to another computer, perform steps 3 - 5 once again, using a Bluetooth connection on the mouse you previously haven't used.

No, it does NOT support Bluetooth. You have to use its USB receiver (dongle).

Sorry, you're not correct.

Even in the link you provided (https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-spectre-rechargeable-mouse-700-p-3nz70aa-abl-1), there are sections that state:

* "Pair with 4 devices"

* In the small print under Specs, it states: "[2] Can pair up to 3 Bluetooth® and 1 USB device. Bluetooth® 4.0 or newer version required for compatibility on devices. Actual product may vary from image shown."

So, I'm not sure how you were able to conclude from that page that Bluetooth is not supported...?? Because it directly states that Bluetooth IS supported...

Also, in this post, Pairing HP Spectre Rechargeable Mouse 700 to Multiple Devices., you yourself state that it can pair 4 devices. It's probably not your intent, but it seems contradictory...
