HP Spectre x360 - 15-df1045nr

The wifi module appears to have died on my HP Spectre x360 - 15-df1045nr. The driver details say it has failed to initialize and gives a code 10 error.  It looks to be soldered on. Is there any way to replace it?

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with the WiFi module on your HP Spectre x360 laptop. If the WiFi module is not working or appears to be "dead," there are several troubleshooting steps you can try to identify and possibly resolve the issue. Here are some steps you can follow.

 

  • Check the Physical Switch or Function Key: Ensure that the WiFi is enabled by checking the physical switch (if your laptop has one) or by using the appropriate function key combination (often Fn + F12 or F10) to toggle the WiFi on/off.
  • Restart your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues, including problems with the WiFi module.
  • Check Device Manager: Right-click on the Start button, select "Device Manager," and look for the "Network adapters" section. Check if your WiFi adapter is listed there. If it appears with an exclamation mark or an error message, it might indicate a driver issue.
  • Update WiFi Driver: If your WiFi adapter has an error in Device Manager, update the driver. You can do this by right-clicking on the adapter, selecting "Update driver," and choosing to search automatically for updated driver software.
  • Rollback Driver: If you recently updated your WiFi driver and the issue started after that, you can try rolling back the driver to the previous version.
  • Check Airplane Mode: Make sure that Airplane mode is turned off as it disables all wireless connections, including WiFi.
  • Check WiFi Router/Access Point: Ensure that the problem is not with your WiFi router or access point by checking if other devices can connect to it without any issues.
