Started looking for assistance on RJ45 port not recognizing ethernet (cable unplugged message).  Connecting via USB C adapter to a port on the hub works so narrowed it down to the RJ45 ethernet port on the HUB.

WHEN TRYING TO GET SUPPORT HELP THROUGH HP, the SUPPORT SITE TELLS ME THE S/R NUMBER IS INCORRECT.  WELL, IT'S NOT.  I typed it correctly and apparently this is a common problem.

Magic.  The S/N is now recognized by HP support.  I will attempt to get tech support on the non operating RJ45 port.

Hello,
1. Please uninstall the network card driver from the device manager on your computer, unplug and reinsert, restart the computer, and wait for the driver to be automatically reinstalled;

2.To update the firmware of the docking station, you can find the firmware program for your docking station's network card on the HP website, download and run this firmware update tool.

Based on the issues I encountered with the Mokin docking station before, these two steps can solve 95% of the problems.
You can test it first to see if it's helpful.
