HP 970 Programmable Wireless Keyboard

I am having connecting my wireless bluetooth keyboard and it is not even 6 months old.  When I click on find bluetooth device, it doesn't even show up at all. The keyboard is on and is charged and yet it cannot locate it.  This is not the first time this has happened but every time I reset it and forget this device, I always have a problem. They are both HP products and yet it waste so much time troubleshooting them.

Hi @Yojna,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your HP Bluetooth keyboard. Let's try some steps to resolve the issue:

Basic Troubleshooting Steps

Ensure the Keyboard is On and in Pairing Mode:

  • Make sure the keyboard is fully charged.
  • Turn the keyboard off and then back on.
  • Enter pairing mode on the keyboard (check the manual for the specific steps).

Remove Previous Pairings:

  • Go to your computer’s Bluetooth settings.
  • Remove any previous pairings or "forget" the keyboard.
  • Restart your computer.

Check Bluetooth on Your Computer:

  • Ensure Bluetooth is enabled.
  • Turn Bluetooth off and then back on.
  • Ensure your computer is discoverable.

Update Drivers and Firmware:

  • Check for any available updates for your Bluetooth drivers.
  • Visit the HP website and look for firmware updates for your keyboard.

Advanced Troubleshooting Steps

Reset Bluetooth Adapter:

  • Go to Device Manager.
  • Find your Bluetooth adapter under "Bluetooth".
  • Right-click and select "Disable device".
  • Right-click again and select "Enable device".

Use HP Support Assistant:

  • Open the HP Support Assistant on your computer.
  • Check for any updates or troubleshoot Bluetooth connectivity issues through the assistant.

Try Pairing with Another Device:

  • Try pairing the keyboard with another device (like a smartphone or tablet) to see if the issue is with the keyboard or the computer.

Interference Check:

  • Make sure there are no other Bluetooth devices nearby that might be causing interference.
  • Move the keyboard closer to the computer.

Reset the Keyboard (If Possible)

Some keyboards have a reset function. Refer to the keyboard’s user manual for specific instructions on how to reset it.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
