HP Stream 11-y010nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Brother MFC-790CW printer/scanner/fax used to work OK with HP Stream laptop on the wireless network. For some reason, it went "Offline". I can't find any setting that brings it back online or takes it offline. In an effort to correct the problem, I deleted the printer and then tried to reinstall it. Now when it shows connected devices, it won't even recognize the printer being connected to the LAN.  The Brother's touchscreen gives me a PIN to enter at the "Wireless Access Point", but I can't find anyplace to enter it manually in the laptop. I attempted to resolve the issue with Brother's tech support, but after they tried, they said it was osmething in the firewall or security provisions in the laptop and they couldn't do any thing further on their end. They said it would have to be dealt with by HP. It is quite possible that I messed something up in my hamhanded attempts to find and correct the problem. Help!

Thanks,

Bob

Hi

First of all check the Router.

Either it has a listing for the PIN entry or it may have a 1 shot connect option.  Effectively you either press a button or enter the WPS into the device.  As greyed out in the ADD WPS Client, PIN or Push Button.

So both devices need to be visible in the Router, the printer with a fixed IP address.  Then ping the printer.

If in doubt please ask.

I don't know how to get to the router screen you show. My router only has input/output connections, indicator lights, and a button to restore original factory settings. How do I access a way to see the router status or ip assignments?

Hi

Loosely speaking the Gateway IP should be on the router label.

192.168.0.1
192.168.1.1

And the password as well, and it might be 'admin'.

If in doubt please ask.
