Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

The wifi light stays orange, the physical switch does not seem to be working properly. The troubleshooter reads the wifi card but says it is turned off. I think using HP wireless assistant may be able to help me resolve this issue but the version I found here does not work on windows 7. If someone could direct me to a legacy version of HP wireless assistant I would be greatful.

What is the full model number or product number of your notebook?

 

The HP wireless assistant is only supported on very old notebooks and on the newer notebooks that still came with W7, the Wireless Assistant was superseded by the HP Connection Manager software.

You can download the W7 version of the HPWA from your notebook's support page:

 

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/swdetails/hp-elitebook-2730p-notebook-pc/3784558/swItemId/ob-84...

 

If the above version doesn't work if you click to expand the Revision History section on the driver page, you will find two older versions you can try.
