How do I add an aol account to the printer/ HP app?

Operating System (unknown) impacts what you can do (and how).

The reason for adding an email address to HP Smart is generally to allow to Share / send scan results to that address.

Windows

If you want to add an email address so you can Share scan results to that email address,

Add the email address to the Windows Mail application.

Reminder:

Mail clients (Windows Mail inclusive) do not handle two-step verification in its standard form.

Assign an Apps Password to the email address (do this at your Email provider home page in the Security settings).
