Hi - my current Wifi network adapter does not have the ability to receive 5G signals. I want to replace the network adapter with an adapter that is dual band. I am trying to determine how many Wifi antennas I currently have installed in my laptop instead of having to open up the laptop to determine. Here are the current details of my laptop:

 

HP Laptop

Model # 17-bs011dx

Serial # 8CG72459L4

Network Adapter: Realtek RTL8723DE

OS: Windows 10 Home; 64-bit; Version 1903

 

Of course, I want to make sure that the new adapter is compatible with this laptop. I appreciate any help. Thanks!

Hi:

 

Your notebook has one antenna connected to the Realtek wifi card in there now.

 

The only combination wifi/Bluetooth card that will work with one antenna is this one...

 

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported)
HP Part # L17365-005.

 

The card has been on back order for months now on the HP parts store, but you can find them on eBay...

If you can live without Bluetooth, you can use one of the two Intel cards listed in your notebook's service manual, chapter 3.

 

The 7265 would be the better of the two.

Search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

Hi Paul - I wanted to let you know that I received the network card within a week after ordering it via ebay. I installed it and was able to reach the 5G network along with bluetooth capability.
