I recently got an HP Elitebook 830 G5 but I'm yet to understand exactly how to get the sim card and cellular data to work. Can you help out?

Hi:
All 830 G5's have SIM card slots.
What 90% of them don't have is the optional but required WWAN adapter needed to connect to the cellular service.
In order for the SIM card to function that model needs to have one of these WWAN adapters installed.
HP lt4132 LTE/HSPA+ 4G Mobile Broadband
or...
Intel® XMM™ 7360 LTE
You can check to see if one of these WWAN adapters is installed by going to the device manager, click to expand the Network adapters device manager category and there you will find the ethernet, wireless and if installed, one of the above WWAN adapters.
