Hi:
Your notebook only has a single band wifi adapter, which is why it can't connect to the 5.0 GHz wifi band.
It is a hardware limitation, not a driver problem.
You can either purchase an external USB dual band wifi adapter, or replace the internal wifi adapter with this one.
Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported)
HP part #L17365-005
The card will have the same throughput as the wifi card your notebook has now on the 2.4 GHz wifi band, but on the 5.0 GHz wifi band, it will have a maximum throughput of 433 MBPS with an AC router, and 150 MBPS with a dual band wireless N router.
The only place I have been able to find the card is on eBay because it has been on back order at the HP parts store for months now.
