So i got this printer in hopes i would be able to scan from the printer itself to an email as ifs connected to WIFI however when i select scan on  th e touch screen it brings up a QR code that links to a setup website however the website doesnt say much 

i understand that there is the shortcuts on the app that can enable the scanning to the email but its extremely time consuming and this printer is in a place of work and used by multiple people. so please someone help me out how do i add emails to the printer itself to be able to scan WITHOUT using the APP.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

HP's newer models, including the 9730e, require activation through HP Smart to unlock features like Scan to Email directly from the printer. Until it's fully set up, you'll often just get a QR code or limited menu options.

Step 1: Finish HP Smart Setup (if not already done)

  1. Use a computer and go to: 123.hp.com
  2. Download and install HP Smart.
  3. Sign in or create an HP account.
  4. Complete the printer registration and enable web services (this is key).

💬 Once web services are enabled, you'll see an email address like yourprinter@hpeprint.com appear on the printer. That confirms you're cloud-connected.

 

Step 2: Enable Scan to Email from HP Smart Admin

  1. On your computer, visit HP Smart Admin.
  2. Log in with the same HP account used to register the printer.
  3. Select your OfficeJet Pro 9730e from the list.
  4. Go to Scan Settings or Shortcuts.
  5. Enable Scan to Email, and configure preset email addresses or allow manual entry.
