Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I have HP Elitebook 840 G8.

Want to configure this laptop to only have Ethernet(hard wire) connection capability via USB-C port and Bluetooth connectivity.

(For security requirements where I work, wifi must be off and should not be able to be turned on)

Since removal of wifi nodule also disables bluetooth, I tried below.

  1. Enter BIOS
  2. BIOS setup
  3. Advanced option tab -> Built-in Device option
  4. Uncheck Wireless Network Device (WLAN)
  5. Security tab -> Create BIOS Administrator Password
  6. Press F10 to save and boot.

This also failed since BIOS option also shuts bluetooth when WLAN is set to be off.

Does any one knows how to mask Wifi but bluetooth on?

Setting module status at Windows is not the option. since anyone can re-scan device / install drive

Hello @whythishappens

In my opinion, you are not working in a safe area if you want to turn off Wifi but allow Bluetooth. The card should be completely removed and that will take care of the issue and you will be reasonably safe.

Kind regards
