Hello all! I am wondering how I would go about connecting my HP laptop to the wifi network AND my HP wireless printer at the same time. Currently I'm having to physically go in and switch from the wifi network to the wireless printer if I want to print something off. It's annoying and I want to fix it. I know there's a way I just don't know how. Any help is greatly appreciated! TIA!

Unfortunately that did not solve my problem. I already have the printer hooked to the laptop as well as to the wireless router. My issue is having to physically tell my computer to switch from WiFi to the printer in order to print anything. I can't just click print while online and it print. I literally have to go into my connection settings and then tell it to "Connect" to the printer in order for the item to print off.

I want to know how to connect the wireless printer AND wireless router at one time without having to switch between the two everytime I need to print something.

I'm hoping this makes sense. In the attached picture, on the left, you see my wifi internet connection on top, on the right is the wireless connection to my printer. I have to physically go in and tell the computer to connect to the printer before it will print. That leaves me switching back and forth between my wifi and my printer connections. I know there has to be a way to fix it.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check connectivity

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  1. Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.

  2. Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.

    • If your printer in not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.

    • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  3. If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.

  4. If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.

  5. Try to print.

Assign manual IP address and that should fix the issue.

a. From the Home screen on the product control panel, swipe until the Setup menu displays. Touch the Setup icon to open the menu.

b. Open the Reports menu.

c. Select configuration Report.

Setting a Static IP Address

Once you know your printer’s IP address, entering it is pretty easy. Here’s what you do:

HP Printer Static IP Address

  1. Run your Web browser.
  2. In the Web browser’s address bar, type the IP address of your printer and press Enter. Assuming you entered the right address, the HP printer control panel should appear.
  3. Click the Networking tab.
  4. Under Connections, click Wireless.
  5. Under IP Address Configuration, click Manual IP.
  6. Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway in the appropriate boxes.
  7. Click Apply.

Let me know how it goes.

@sandytechy20 Unfortunately this did not help. After I navigated to the Printer's IP address, and clicked on Networking tab, there wasn't a link to Connections that I saw. I did see IPv4 Configurations where it gave me a similar screen that you described. I changed the settings you recommended but it still stated that my printer was offline when I attempted to print. I've attached screenshots of what it looked like.Screenshot (72).pngScreenshot (73).pngScreenshot (74).png

I'm not giving up there has to be a solution to this.

Thanks so much for your help!

This might require one on one interaction to fix the issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

I hope that helps.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.
