Hi @Lolly26,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that you are having issues with the connectivity.
Have you made any changes to your router or added new one?
There could be several reasons why your HP Envy laptop is not connecting to WiFi. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
Basic Troubleshooting Steps
Restart Your Laptop and Router:
- Turn off your laptop and router. Wait for about 30 seconds before turning them back on.
Check WiFi Settings:
- Make sure WiFi is turned on. You can check this by clicking on the network icon in the taskbar and ensuring the WiFi button is enabled.
Forget and Reconnect to the Network:
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > WiFi > Manage known networks. Select your WiFi network and click on "Forget". Then, try reconnecting to the network by entering the password again.
Driver and Network Adapter Issues
Update Network Drivers:
- Open Device Manager (you can search for it in the Start menu).
- Expand the "Network adapters" section.
- Right-click on your WiFi adapter and select "Update driver".
- Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software".
Reinstall Network Adapter:
- In Device Manager, right-click on your WiFi adapter and select "Uninstall device".
- Restart your laptop. Windows will automatically reinstall the driver.
Advanced Troubleshooting
Check for Windows Updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. Install any available updates.
Reset Network Settings:
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status. Scroll down and click on "Network reset". This will remove and reinstall all your network adapters and set other networking components back to their original settings.
Check Wireless Mode Settings:
- In Device Manager, right-click on your WiFi adapter and select "Properties".
- Go to the "Advanced" tab and look for "Wireless Mode" or similar settings.
- Make sure it is set to match the type of wireless network you are trying to connect to (e.g., 802.11b/g/n).
Run Network Troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
- Select "Network Adapter" and run the troubleshooter.
Hardware Issues
- Check Hardware:
- Ensure that your laptop's WiFi switch (if present) is turned on.
- If you have a removable WiFi card, make sure it is seated properly.
Additional Steps
- If you are using a VPN, try disconnecting it and then connecting to your WiFi network.
- Try connecting to a different WiFi network to determine if the issue is with your network or the laptop.
You may also refer to this document for more details.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, there may be a hardware problem with your laptop's WiFi adapter, and it might need to be serviced.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
