My laptop is not showing wi-fi. I cannot connect to internet. I did the troubleshooting. Unistalled and reinstalled the driver. Followed all of the steps and still nothing. Please help!!!
Am I missing something here or what? Laptop was fine last night and got up today and now I have a nightmare on my hands.

It sounds like a frustrating situation, but let’s work through this together to get your Wi-Fi back up and running. 

 

Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

 

1. Check Wi-Fi Adapter Status

  • Open Device Manager (press Windows + X and select Device Manager).
  • Expand Network Adapters and look for your Wi-Fi adapter (e.g., Intel Wireless or Realtek).
    • If it’s missing, your Wi-Fi adapter might be disabled or malfunctioning.
    • If it’s listed but has a yellow warning icon, right-click and select Enable or Update Driver.

 

2. Restart WLAN AutoConfig Service

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Scroll down to WLAN AutoConfig, right-click, and select Restart.
  • Ensure the Startup Type is set to Automatic.

 

3. Reset Network Settings

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced Network Settings > Network Reset.
  • Click Reset Now to restore all network settings to default. Restart your laptop after the reset.

 

4. Check BIOS Settings

  • Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings.
  • Look for a setting related to the wireless adapter and ensure it’s enabled.
  • Save changes and exit.

 

5. Test with a USB Wi-Fi Adapter

  • If possible, connect a USB Wi-Fi adapter to your laptop. If it works, the issue might be with your internal Wi-Fi card.

 

6. Update Windows

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. Install any pending updates, as they may include fixes for network issues.

 

7. Perform a System Restore

  • If the issue started recently, use System Restore to revert your laptop to a previous state when Wi-Fi was working:
    • Search for Create a restore point in the Start menu.
    • Select System Restore and follow the prompts to choose a restore point.
