I bought this HP Envy x360 in 2020 refurbished from Micro Center in 2020 with an in-store warranty.  After a few months, it blue screened on me.  With the warranty, I brought it back into Micro Center but they refused to help saying they don't cover application software.  Apparently they don't know that windows is an operating system.  I was very upset and put the machine away until now.  I tried restoring Windows on the machine but it did not work.  I tried installing windows from a usb and it would only let me install a "basic" version without Wi Fi.  But I know it has wi-fi, I used it when I first got it and it shows up as working in the UEFI diagnostics as working.  And wi-fi is the only way to get on the web, there is no Cat 5 connection  or other way to access a network on the machine.  So I am a legally licensed user of Windows 10 but can't get it to use wi fi  or do upgrades which makes the machine a useless brick.  Help!

@Jellobones, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

What You'll Need:

Another working computer with internet

A USB drive (at least 8 GB)

1. Create a Windows Installer USB

On another computer, go to:
Download Windows 10

Download the Media Creation Tool.

Use it to make a bootable USB with Windows 10.

2. Install Windows on Your HP Envy

Plug the USB into the laptop.

Turn it on and press Esc repeatedly.

Choose F9 for boot options, select the USB drive.

Install Windows.

Delete all partitions when asked.

Install on the unallocated space.

3. Fix the Wi-Fi (if it’s still not working)

Use HP Website

On another computer, go to:
Official HP® Drivers and Software Download | HP® Support

Find your laptop model.

Download the Wi-Fi driver and put it on a USB.

Install it on your HP Envy.

4. Connect to Wi-Fi and Update Windows

Once Wi-Fi works, connect to the internet.

Run Windows Update to finish setup.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
