My hp envy x360 decided not to hook up to my Wi-Fi. Once in a while while trying, it will say connected, but then it goes right back to being not connected within five seconds it is definitely my laptop not the Wi-Fi. I have tried all sorts of things. Comes up and says this computer was manually disconnected from my Wi-Fi, which I don’t know what that means because I’m still trying to connect to it. And also says a network cable is not properly plugged in or maybe broken which I’m trying to do this via wireless Wi-Fi. It will work if I hook up an ethernet cable to it, but then it still will not connect to my printer, which is a wireless printer and I only have a 3 foot cord.
Defeats the purpose of having a laptop

@Brokeass101, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I totally get how frustrating it is when your HP Envy x360 suddenly decides to go rogue and stop connecting to Wi-Fi, especially when everything else seems to be working just fine. Let's get this sorted so your laptop can get back to being the wireless wonder it was meant to be. 💻📶
Here’s a step-by-step to get your Wi-Fi back on track:
Reset Network Settings
Sometimes the Wi-Fi settings can get confused, especially if you've tried multiple fixes. Let’s give it a clean slate:
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
- Scroll down and click Network Reset.
- Restart your laptop when prompted.
This will remove all saved Wi-Fi networks and reinstall network adapters.
Forget and Reconnect to Wi-Fi
Once your laptop restarts:
- Click the Wi-Fi icon in your taskbar.
- Right-click your network and select Forget.
- Reconnect by selecting the network again and re-entering the password.
Update or Reinstall Your Wireless Driver
Let’s make sure your Wi-Fi adapter is running the latest (and happiest) version:
- Right-click the Start menu and select Device Manager.
- Expand Network adapters.
- Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter (likely something like “Realtek” or “Intel”) and choose Uninstall device.
- Don’t worry, just restart your laptop and Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
Alternatively, you can visit HP Support and enter your product name to download the latest wireless driver manually.
That Weird “Manually Disconnected” Message
That usually means Windows thinks you (or a program) told it to stay off that network. Resetting the network settings (Step 1) and forgetting/reconnecting (Step 2) should clear that up.
Extra Tip for Wireless Printer
If your printer still isn’t showing up wirelessly even when the laptop is online, try this:
- Make sure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- On your laptop, go to Printers & scanners > Add a printer and let it scan for your printer again.
- If it doesn’t show up, install the latest HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store or here - HP Smart
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
