Hi, @missy46996
A USB 2 adapter will not achieve gigabit ethernet speeds, nor will a USB 3 ethernet adapter if you plug it into a USB 2 port.
Your notebook has a USB 3 port, so if you want close to gigabit ethernet speeds, buy a USB 3 10/100/1000 to RJ-45 ethernet adapter.
Did your notebook's onboard gigabit ethernet adapter fail or something?
According to the product specs it comes with built in gigabit ethernet.
