A few weeks ago my laptop somehow updated and now the option for a wireless internet is gone. Now i just have the option to connect to the ethernet. The ethernet simbol is shown in the bottom left with a red x. I've tried running troubleshoot but it only tells me plug in an ethernet cable. I need to fix this fast!

@AlbaM1 I suggest you uninstall the drivers for your wireless card from the device manager (windows key + X > select device manager > find the wireless card on the list > right-click on the wireless card and select uninstall) once done, restart the computer and try the below steps:
Have you run a wireless card test on your computer?
- Download and install the HP Hardware diagnostics tool from this link.
- Once installed, shut down your computer.
- Wait for a minute.
- Turn the computer On and keep tapping F2 repeatedly on startup to enter system diagnostics.
- Select the component test and run a wireless test on your computer.
- Refer to this HP Article for assistance.
- If the test fails or does not detect the wireless card, it could be faulty.

@AlbaM1 I have a few steps that'll help in your situation:
1) On your keyboard, press Windows logo key and X at the same time, then choose Settings.
2) In the search box, type in Troubleshoot and choose Troubleshoot network.
3) On the right side of the pane, click Run the troubleshooter under Internet Connections.
4) Select Troubleshoot my connection to the Internet.
5) When the automatic troubleshooter finishes running the procedure, you will be able to see certain error notification.
Let me know what you get and I'll help you, accordingly.
