My laptop wont show any wireless wifi options and just keeps requesting an ethernet connection. In my settings theres no option for wirelessly connecting to a network. The laptop wont even show me available networks to connect to.

Bring up the windows device manager and see if you can roll back the network W-Fi driver. I assume a windows update put the wrong driver in
Before showing how to do a roll back, please check to see if Wi-Fi is disabled. Some laptops have a function key to turn Wi-Fi on or off.
your Wi-Fi may be turned off. Look for a key with the icon
You can also read this for help with missing Wi-Fi icon on the task bar.
If you have blue screen problems (BSOD) you may have old drivers that need to be updated. There is also a possibility that a Microsoft released driver was not compatible with your hardware. This does not happen too often, but when it does you need to roll back the driver to your old HP driver.
The device manager can be used to check the date and version of the driver you are using. The images below show dates for the Realtek audio driver and an Intel Wi-Fi driver.
Note that the Realtek is older and cannot be rolled back. Possibly there is a newer release. The Intel driver is new and can be rolled back. Use the latest HP Support Assistant to find the latest HP released drivers.
Typically, if there is a driver problem, a yellow or red colored warning will show up.
If the roll back does not work, then look for a restore point and have windows restore itself from before the problem occurred
