Hi @Tracy1228,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how frustrating this is. You’re stuck at the login screen and can’t even connect to Wi-Fi to reset your password. Don’t worry, there are Windows steps to fix this.

Recommended Fixes

Option 1: Use the On-Screen Keyboard to Access Wi-Fi

  • On the login screen, click the Network icon (bottom-right).
  • If it doesn’t show the password field:
    • Press Ctrl + Alt + DelSwitch User → Try again.
    • Or click Ease of Access → On-Screen Keyboard and see if the Wi-Fi dialog appears.

Option 2: Connect via Ethernet

  • If possible, plug in a LAN cable directly to your router.
  • This bypasses the Wi-Fi setup and allows password reset.

Option 3: Boot into Safe Mode with Networking

  • Restart and press F11 or Shift + RestartTroubleshoot → Advanced Options → Startup Settings → Enable Safe Mode with Networking.
  • Connect to Wi-Fi and reset the password.

Option 4: Create a Local Account

  • On the login screen, press Shift + F10 to open Command Prompt.
  • Type: net user NewUser NewPassword /add
               net localgroup administrators NewUser /add
  • Restart and log in with the new account.

Option 5: Reset Again (Offline Setup)

  • If nothing works, perform another reset:
    • Troubleshoot → Reset this PC → Keep my files.
  • During setup, choose I don’t have internetContinue with limited setup to create a local account.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
