I recently bought an HP Elitebook 830 G6 Laptop but whenever I insert a SIM card into the slot, it is not recognized at all. I have done this several times but no positive response
Any help?

Unless i am mistaken, this is your system and the Maintenance and Service Guide shows the following
I do not see a slot for a SIM card, either SD (memory) or Cellular.
#6 at top is for a docking stations and #4 at bottom is the security card that requires a Smart card insert. L60627-001

Every Elitebook 830 G6 has a SIM card slot.
Your notebook doesn't have the optional WWAN adapter needed to connect to a cellular network.
All a SIM card does is allow you to access your cellular carrier's network.
In order for the SIM card to work your notebook must have one of the following WWAN adapters present and working listed under the Network adapters device manager category:
Intel XMM 7360 LTE-Advanced
Intel XMM 7560 LTE-Advanced Pro
Intel XMM 7262 LTE-Advanced
