Hi! I need your advice.

My laptop needs battery replacement since it bloated and just now, I was told that my top cover w/ keyboard needs replacing as well.

I understand the replacement with the battery but with the top cover w/ keyboard, I need a little more convincing. Would my unit still work without the latter being replaced?

Thank you!

Hi:

It depends on if the top cover/keyboard have been damaged by the battery swelling.

You may want to remove the battery put the notebook back together and see if the keyboard and touchpad function normally.

The notebook should run on A/C power without the battery.

You may have to set the system time and date.

If the keyboard and touchpad don't work, then you would have to replace the keyboard and top cover as well.
