I want to connect using ethernet cable

HP Recommended

HP Envy notebook with HDMI port, but no ethernet cable port. I bought an adapter for ethernet cable to HDMI. When connected, the computer still uses WiFi for the internet connection. How can I get it to recognize the ethernet cable connection?

Now, please click wifi icon and

   (a) select disconnect then

   (b) untick connect automatically

If still can't use cable, you need to check the adapter, you may need software/driver for it.

Regards.

At the Wi-Fi page, I was able to turn off the Wi-Fi and I selected the option to turn it back on manually at a future time. There was no option to turn off/on the Wi-Fi automatically. I looked everywhere for some option to view Ethernet cable settings, but I found none. With the cable plugged in, there was still no recognition of the available signal. I have 2 computers on my desk. With the cable plugged into the desktop computer, the internet speed is 454 megabits per second. So, the challenge is to get the laptop to recognize the cable. Again, I am using a simple Ethernet cable to HDMI adapter. The male cable plugs into the adapter and the adapter plugs into the HDMI port in the right side of the laptop.

Also, the adapter is hard-wired, with no internal intelligence. So, I think it would not require any drivers.
