My computer will not reconnect to the internet. I was out for maternity leave and it was working fine before then, but now it will not work. I've tried rebooting, deleting and redownloading the app, deleting the printer off the app, etc. Whenever I try to add the printer it can find it, I then type in the wifi password, but then when it wants me to press the Information button to get the IP address it stops. Even on the sheet the printer prints there is no IP address. I don't know what to do.

Hi @EmilySkraba,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your issue with connecting your printer to the internet. Here are some steps you can take to try to resolve the IP address issue:

Ensure Network Connection: Make sure the printer is connected to the same wireless network as your computer or mobile device. If your printer has a touchscreen, go to the wireless or network settings menu to check the connection. If the printer doesn't have a touchscreen, ensure the wireless button is illuminated.

Print a Network Configuration Report: Even if the IP isn't visible, this report can provide insights. Different printers have various methods to print this report:

  • On some models, you can press and hold buttons like Wireless and Information simultaneously.

  • Another method might involve pressing the Wireless and Resume/Cancel buttons at the same time.

Check the Router: Move closer to the router to check if the printer reconnects. Sometimes weak signals cause connectivity issues. Restart the router and wait a few minutes before trying again.

Ensure DHCP is Enabled: On some routers, DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) might be disabled, preventing the automatic assignment of IP addresses. You would need to access your router's settings to check this.

Manually Assign IP: If the printer does not receive an IP address automatically, you can try assigning it manually. From the printer’s control panel (if available), try setting a static IP instead of dynamic.

Reset Network Settings: On some printers, you can go to network settings and choose "Restore Network Settings" to reset any misconfigurations.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
