The mystery continues.  I swapped the AC3160 card from my Envy 15t with the AX200 card I was trying to work in this Elitebook.  The AX200 works perfectly in the Envy.  In the 845 G7, the AC3160 will give me BT, but no Wifi.  I think this is the end...  I'll just go back to using my USB dongle for WiFi in the Elitebook.

At least you were able to use the card in another notebook to upgrade that one.

 

I could have told you that the 3160AC card wouldn't work.

 

You can only install certain model Intel cards in notebooks with AMD processors that are listed in the service manual for the particular model AMD notebook you want to install an Intel card in.

 

No more, no less.

 

It has something to do with that part number, or if your notebook did not come with a Wi-Fi card from the factory, HP has configured the BIOS somehow so that no Wi-Fi card will work.
