You will need to connect via ethernet, or a USB wireless network adapter to update to 8.1.
As I stated yesterday...there is no W8 driver for the hardware revision of the Broadcom wireless card your notebook has, which is why you are getting that error.
Also, there is a newer driver for the Broadcom card that works better.
After you update to W8.1, use this driver instead.
The package contains Broadcom Wireless LAN driver for supported notebook models running a supported operating system. Broadcom Wireless LAN driver is required to enable integrated Broadcom Wireless LAN adapter.

You will find no such driver from anywhere on the planet.
If you want to use the internal wlan card, you will need to take the free upgrade to W8.1, and use the W8.1 drivers from your notebook's support page.
