My WLAN worked at home, but not at work, where we use an enterprise solution with certificates and such. In my attempt to get WLAN working at work, I somehow managed to completely destroy WLAN so it doesn't work at all.
Roll back in Win7 not an option due to policy on company pre-load.
In device manager the WLAN card looks ok, no yellow remarks and when looking in details, nothing seems to be wrong.
When i look in "Change adapter settings", then it's currently "stuck" saying "enabling". Icon is grey.
HP Connection manager just says "Wi-Fi Not Ready".
Sometime i can get the adapater to say "enabled", however no networks are found and HP connection Manager will then say that the Wi-Fi is disabled in device manager, however when i look in device manager it's not disabled. Disabling and enabling doesn't do anything.
I have tried to install Wi-Fi drivers from Intel directly, and also HP's newest version and a sligthly older version.
WLAN adapter has also been changed, just to make sure it isn't hardware.
HP support tells me to simply get a reload, and I'm sure it will work, however as a tech i have soooo much niknak on my PC, amd it takes several weeks to get all working again.
Ideas please.

Hi
Comfortable with a Command Line?
If you can try these please...
getmac ipconfig -all
The results should copy and paste back easily enough.
If it is installed then this should get a result
ping 127.0.0.1
C:\>ping 127.0.0.1

Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

Tells me I have a working adapter, you may not have one.
If in doubt please ask.

Hi CF4
It's a long copy past here 🙂 I know that ping to localhost can tell if a NIC is working, but how do i know which adapter it's actually trying on? I have a bunch:

Hi
A long list indeed.
What we know is that the Ethernet port is disconnected, but otherwise fine.
The Intel WiFi has a high value IP address, normally the gateway would be 192.168.0.xxx or 192.168.1.xxx, BUT 192.168.100.xxx is not necessarily wrong.
But it is in and working. Where mine differs is in the DNS area...

In that it goes off to Google to get the lookups, you have quite a lot of DNS values.
For VPN, point to point, you dont need to lookup web addresses, so that is the area I would check/tidy first.
This may be a waste of time...

The WLAN adapter doesn't have an IP, that's the Intel wired adapter 😉
"Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (2) I219-LM"
The WLAN NIC is not even listed on ipconfig /all output, which is strange, and probably a symptom/side-effect of the problem.
netsh wlan show profiles just shows this:
Profiles on interface Wireless Network Connection:
Group policy profiles (read only)

ATTCORP

-------------
<None>
So the other cmd you gave gives just an error in the parameters.
FYI 🙂 I am a network tech, working for AT&T, so all the ip stuff can be skipped. Just need that **bleep** wlan adapter to wake up 🙂

Nice batch file...
Strange though:
Option M:
There is 1 interface on the system:
Name :
Description : Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260
GUID : 7c5ac697-7f2d-43b0-8a13-0b2e48d47e31
Physical address : 00:00:00:00:00:00
State : not ready
Then Option L:
Interface name:
Driver information for this interface is not available.
So it sees the adapter, says it's not ready, and no driver ?!?
***** EDIT *****
The interface listed above has "Physical address : 00:00:00:00:00:00" and "State: not ready"
I just checked with a laptop also using wired connection. On that, there is a correct mac address and state says "disconnected". So i think the problem is more, how can you say it, visible now.
03-08-2018 05:25 AM
Things getting stranger here....
I just tried reinstalling driver.
Then i ended up getting the grey icon in the "change adapter settings" window, where it just says "enabling" and never get's enabled.
If i then delete the wlan adapter from device manager (not the drivers), and do a "Scan for hardware changes", then it finds the adapter again, and this time it enables it and it turns green....
BUT
When grey in "change adapter settings":
Name : Wireless Network Connection
Description : Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260
GUID : 60f978d3-b2e5-4c8b-8016-9a308919f249
Physical address : d4:25:8b:27:33:46
State : not ready
Notice the MAC is present.
Then i delete and scan to get it enabled and green, and this happens:
Name :
Description : Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260
GUID : 60f978d3-b2e5-4c8b-8016-9a308919f249
Physical address : 00:00:00:00:00:00
State : not ready
No valid MAC there. In both cases it says "State : not ready".
I'm sooo frustrated.

Hi
Normally you get 3 MAC addresses, Ethernet, WiFi and Bluetooth.
You have 4, and one is (not) Bluetooth?
This is what we know
