HP Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Notebook contains a Realtek RTL8723BE-VB 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi  wireless card. I would like to know what Intel cards would be compatible.

Thanks!

Yes but look at page 44. No HP Part number is given for the Intel 3165 card, which does need 2 antennae.

You can try the Broadcom card, which is in my opinion somewhat of an improvement over the Realtek:

Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi + BT4.0 M.2 Combo Adapter 792608-005

You can try the Intel card but I am advising it will have issues trying to operate on a single antenna lead.

We need the model number of the laptop. You may have a single antenna inside the laptop which will severely restrict your upgrade options and rule out most Intel cards.

Hi - the Model # is FBA_767000000000.

This is the laptop:

Thank you!

I want to add that the reason why I am looking to replace the Wi-Fi card is because after extensive troubleshooting, HP was unable to resolve an issue I've been having with a delayed connection to Wi-Fi when the laptop comes out of sleep mode. This included executing a system recovery. HP sent me a replacement Realtek Wi-Fi card (I did not want to send the laptop to them for service), which did not resolve the problem. I have read that the Realtek cards have performance issues, so I am interested in trying an Intel card to see if it fixes the problem.

That is not an HP model number and even the product number on that amazon page is not returning anything. You bought it from a reseller and sometimes they are a bit vague about what they are selling so they can fill the order with different models.

The first thing I am going to have you try when I get the correct model number is a BIOS update. Let me know if you have already tried that. Second thing is to find the Service manual, which will tell me if it has 1 or 2 antennae. If it has one antenna, then there are really no Intel cards which will be compatible. We might be able to find you something other than the Realtek, however.

I just realized I had this info in an email from HP:

Model Number: Z2K95UA
Model Description: HP NOTEBOOK 15-AY147CL
Serial Number: CND6383WRV

I have already executed a BIOS update and have updated all drivers that I could identify, including the wireless adapter.

Here is the link to what I believe is the service manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05527168.pdf

Looks like it's one antennae:

Integrated wireless options with single antenna (M.2)

Compatible with 0iracast-certiƭed devices Support for the following WLAN formats:

● Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11bgn 1x1 Wi-Fi Adapter

● Realtek RT8723BE 802.11bgn 1x1 Wi-Fi + BT4.0 Combo Adapter

● Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn 1x1 Wi-Fi + BT4.0 HMC Combo Adapter

● Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter

So are those my card options?

Looks to be yes.

I received the broadcom card today, and it doesn't look like it will fit. It's smaller than the Realtek card.

Here is a link to the card the card I purchased:

Here's a photo of the card next to the Realtek card:

Why would would the service guide recommend an incompatible card?
