HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-e2000 (2J4W0AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

OS WIndows 11 Home. Version 22H2

The internet keeps disconnecting and then reconnects a short time later. This only happens on my device and not on other devices using the same internet connection. I have updated the WiFi  adapter to current version.
I have discussed issue with IP provider with no solution. Has anyone had a similar problem?

Hi @Jaygrl,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Intermittent internet connectivity issues on a laptop can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to diagnose and potentially resolve the problem. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot:

Check Other Devices: Start by confirming whether the internet connection is stable on other devices, such as smartphones or tablets. If the problem is limited to your laptop, it's likely a laptop-specific issue.

Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Reboot your laptop and see if the problem persists.

Update Network Drivers:

  • Go to the manufacturer's website or use a driver update tool to ensure your laptop's network drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can cause connectivity problems.

Check for Physical Issues:

  • Ensure that the network cable (if using wired connection) or Wi-Fi antenna (if using wireless) is properly connected.
  • Inspect the Ethernet cable for damage if you're using a wired connection.
  • For wireless connections, ensure there are no physical obstructions between your laptop and the router that could weaken the signal.

Reset Network Settings:

  • Go to the network settings on your laptop and try resetting them to their default settings. Sometimes, misconfigured settings can lead to connectivity problems.

Check for Interference:

  • If you're using Wi-Fi, other electronic devices (microwaves, cordless phones, Bluetooth devices) or neighboring Wi-Fi networks might interfere with your signal. Try changing the Wi-Fi channel on your router to see if it improves stability.

Update Router Firmware:

  • Access your router's web interface and check if there are any firmware updates available. Outdated router firmware can lead to connectivity issues.

Check for Malware:

  • Run a full system scan on your laptop using reputable antivirus or anti-malware software. Malware can sometimes interfere with network connectivity.

Temporarily Disable Firewall or Security Software:

  • Your firewall or security software might be blocking your internet connection. Temporarily disable them to see if that resolves the issue. If it does, consider adjusting the settings to allow internet access.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure your operating system is up to date with the latest updates, as these updates can sometimes include fixes for connectivity issues.

Contact Your ISP:

  • If none of the above steps resolves the issue, it could be a problem with your internet service provider (ISP). Contact them to see if there are any known issues in your area or if they can assist with troubleshooting.

Consider Hardware Issues:

  • If the problem persists, there may be a hardware issue with your laptop's network adapter or the router itself.

Keep in mind that troubleshooting connectivity issues can be a process of trial and error. Start with the simplest solutions and work your way up to more complex ones.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks ALDEN4, I have done all of the suggested items for solution. I have gone into the router and changed channels..(router is 2,4 and 5ghz enabled). I will see if the change of channel has solved the issue. I will let you know if there is still a problem.

Many thanks.
