Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop is connected to the wifi and the wifi works fine on all the other devices in the house. However my brand new laptop just keeps on disconnecting of getting extremely slow internet speed like less then 1mb/s. Then there is another problem that my even when a video is loaded, the screen keeps on bugging. When i open the taskmaneger the processor's usage is through the roof.

I've got a intel i5 8th gen, 128 gb ssd + 1tb hdd, 8 gb ram and a Nvidia Geforce MX130. These specs should be enough to watch a decent video without all the bugging not? Anyone that can help out is welcome!

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand the WiFi keeps disconnecting, by default, Windows 10, has an option enabled on network adapters that allow the computer to turn off the network adapter to save power,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Are you getting an error code or message while wifi disconnecting from the network?

While you respond to that, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
Let's try to turn off the option,

  • Click Start, then Settings.
  • At the bottom of the settings tab, you will see a “Device Manager” option, click it.
  • In the device manager, head to the “Network Adapter” option and select your network card, right click on it and then select “Properties”.
  • Go to the Power Management option and uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,

Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" from the drop-down menu on the upper right corner,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.  Have a great day!
