Today I set up my new Envy 5540 Printer. Before doing that I set up a home network, because I had none. But now I wonder whether it is relly necessary for the wireless conection with my EliteBook 850 G2.

Thank you much for the information, which I read.
On the touch screen of the printer:
IP: 162.198.1.65
My Network Name (xxx)
The MAC code (xxx)
Host Name HP AE - 3090
Don't know which of the two wireless options I have set, but printing and scanning work fine wirelessly. If I understand you well I don't need a Home Group Network.
