Hi All,
Hoping I could get some help with this.
A few days ago the Ethernet to my 2018 HP Omen (dc0051nr) suddenly stopped working. Here are the things I have done.
1. Ensure ethernet cable was connected to router. The cable is connected but I notice there is no longer an indicator light on the router. I remove and insert cable, no change.
2. Restart the laptop. No change.
3. Unplug router/restart router. No change.
4. At this point I'm suspecting the cable has failed. I connect a 2nd laptop, using the same cable, and ethernet works instantly and the indicator light is now shown on router
5. I check the port on my HP Omen for looseness. Seems good, but I notice there's no light for what I assume is the indicator for ethernet connection
6. Check device manager and network connections. I do not see anything alluding to LAN/ethernet. Now I'm thinking I just need to download the driver from HP Support. I tried the 3 available network drivers on the support page, starting with Realtek Local Area Network (LAN) Driver(Windows 10 v1709/v1803). No change with any of them.
At this point I am stuck and looking for some expertise. What do you all think? Did I just get the wrong drivers?
Thanks,
Kaykoose

I suggest that you use the Diagnostics to check the ethernet port.
From a power off state press the power button and immediately tap the Esc key. That should invoke the Startup menu. Now press F2 to invoke the System Diagnostics. In the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics menu choose Component Tests. At the next screen choose the option for the ethernet port.
Keep us in the loop with the result of the test.

Thanks for the reply Erico. Please see the attached screenshots. I am unable to get this tested. Really starting to think the Ethernet is dead.
I thought this is what I needed to enable, but not sure anymore

I suggest that you save your data to an external disk and then use HP Cloud recovery, if supported to reinstall Windows 10.
If you still don't find the network adapter present in the Device manager after the installation is complete, it would appear to be an issue with the system board in the notebook.
I do not remember if you mentioned whether your notebook is still in warranty or not.
If not in warranty and you do not want to go through the expense and hassle of sourcing a different notebook, you can use a USB to Network adapter in place of the non- operational built in adapter.
I own one because I tend to prefer ultrabooks for their compact size and convenience.
Ultrabooks are not delivered with LAN network adapters.

Hi Erico,
I completed the clean install of Windows with no change. I believe it is now safe to say the network adapter is dead.
I am out of warranty. I'll look into the USB to Ethernet cable on Amazon. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for the help.
