Is there another socket-compatible wifi card from another vendor that I can install in my notebook?  My wifi performance is terrible - stable connections but extremely poor download speed and ping latencies.  My iPhone 12 Pro and my wife's M1-based MacBook Air are consistently achieving 3x+ more download speed and 2-3x less latency than my system.

I have done all of the optimizations of the advanced driver settings with multiple drivers from both HP and Intel from Windows t0 to Windows 11, all to no avail.  I've posted here before about the wireless performance and never found a suitable solution.  If I can't replace this card with something that performs better, I may just scrap this machine and go Apple.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks and regards,

Howard

I know it's the holiday season, but I'm disappointed that there have been no responses to this post.  Still experiencing the same performance issues.  If this can't be resolved in some way, I'm almost ready to scrap my 16 month old Spectre x360 and go to a MacBook.  As opposed to trying multiple drivers and dealing with a dozen driver optimization parameters, our Apple products simply connect to wifi and just deliver great performance.  Please don't make me go to the "dark side" in order to get the network performance that I need.

Thanks and regards,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing issues with the Intel Wi-Fi on the HP Spectre X360 Notebook. As you have tried all the updates and drivers on the PC. So it could be a hardware issue on the Wi-Fi card.

As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now. I would request you to contact our HP Support Engineers and should be able to sort this out. Hence I encourage you to contact HP support for warranty service options.

Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options.

Follow the instructions below to reach them:

1) Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp

2) Select your product type below.

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences.

6) Fill the web form and proceed further.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Dilip -

Thanks for your response!  This system is out of warranty, and I have no desire to send it in for service and be without it for a week or more.

My assessment was also that it might be the WiFi card, so I pulled up the documentation and replacement video for what I thought was my version of the system and ordered a new Intel Wifi 6 AX201 card.  When I got the card and actually opened the system to replace it, it appears that the Intel chip may actually be down on the motherboard, as there was no separate card nor were their antenna connections that corresponded to the video.  I closed up the system and am living with the current performance for now.  Sometimes I get up to 60-70% of the performance of my apple systems (which I could live with), other times it's 25-35% - very inconsistent and very frustrating.

I'll wait until the new MacBooks come out later this year, and if the wifi performance is still as inconsistent as it is now, I may just move over to the dark side.

Regards,

Howard

Thank you for responding, I appreciate your time and effort.

I have a few recommendations

  • Update your Notebook computer to the latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
  • Did you try running the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics test on the Wi-Fi card?

  • HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows is a Windows-based utility that allows you to run diagnostic tests to determine whether the computer hardware is functioning properly

Feel free to contact us in the future if you need any assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
