HP Laptop 14-dk0018na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good evening,

Product name: HP Laptop 14-dk0018na

My newly purchased laptop very frequently loses Internet and Wifi connection to my home network, whilst all other devices connected to it function properly. I press disconnect and connect to the network again, which restores the connection temporarily, but it is lost again afterwards. I ran the troubleshoot, but it did not solve the problem.

I would be very grateful if you could advise me on how to solve the issue.

Please let me know if you require any further information about my device.

Kind regards,

Maria

Thanks for the info.

That card is notorious for connection problems, and it is a work in progress for Realtek to fix it.

They keep releasing updated drivers and hopefully, they will get it fixed one day.

So, the only suggestion I can offer for now, would be to update the wifi driver to the latest version, restart the PC and see if that helps any.

If that doesn't help, I recommend you contact HP technical support in your country and submit a support case under the warranty.

Hi, Maria:

What model wifi adapter does your notebook have?

If you don't know, go to the device manager, click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category, and there you will find the name and model number of the wireless network adapter.

Thank you for the explanation and your help.

I clicked the link you provided: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp98001-98500/sp98489.exe to install the latest version and restarted my PC.

Could you please tell me how to know whether the adapter has been updated or not? Also, is this the name of the latest version: 2024.0.9.103/2024.0.4 Jul 18, 2019?

You're very welcome.

Go to the device manager.

Click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category.

Click on the Realtek 8822 wifi adapter.

Click on the driver tab.

The driver version should be 2024.0.9.103, with an actual driver date of 05/17/2019.

The Jul 18, 2019 date is the date that HP released the driver.

I just found out that Realtek released a driver to the Microsoft update catalog site.

So, if things haven't improved, you can try to install the driver that Realtek sent to Microsoft.

I have zipped it up and attached it below.

Version:  2024.0.10.105    Date:  07/25/2019

Drivers released to Microsoft have no executable file to run, so you will have to manually install the driver as follows...

Download and unzip the driver I attached to its folder.

Do not do anything with the files in the folder.

Go to the device manager.

Click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category.

Click on the Realtek 8822 wifi adapter.

Click on the driver tab.

Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder you unzipped.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.

Then restart the PC.

My connection is now back to normal after updating the adapter.

Thank you very much for your help! It is greatly appreciated.

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

Which driver solved the problem for you?

The one from HP or the one I zipped up and attached from Microsoft?

HP Recommended

The driver from HP which you initially sent me the link for solved the problem.
