We are using EERO Mesh Network in our home.  We have three "access points":  Basement, Kitchen, Living Room.  I manage the EEROs with an app on my phone.  I can see what devices are connect to which access point.  My wife's laptop, HP Envy, only connects to the Basement access point, which is the furthest away.  The closest access point is the Kitchen, which is only 10 feet away.  My laptop (Microsoft Surface), iPad, and both of our iPhones get handed off between the access points as we move around the house.  Only the HP Envy stays on the Basement access point.  I have power cycled the network, the network is up to date on software versions, I have checked for driver updates on the WiFi adapter.  All are good.  She is running Windows 11 as am I on my laptop.  The only thing that I can think of is it is a setting on the HP Envy that is not correct.  

 

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Doing a side by side comparison of properties with the suspect HP Envy and my Microsoft Surface, I found that the Envy WiFi adapter has a setting called "Ultra High Band (6GHz)".  It was enabled.  My Surface does not have this setting.  On a whim, I decided to trying disabling the setting on the Envy.......and it worked!  The Wifi adapter is now connecting to the closest access point.

Your wifi adapter has a "roaming aggressiveness" setting. I would check that first. Go into Properties > Advanced and look for roaming Aggressiveness in the list, select it and see what the setting is. They range from "Disable to Highest". Medium seems to be the recommended setting.

Thanks  for the prompt reply.  I checked the Roaming Aggressiveness setting and it was set to Medium.  I then tried increasing the setting to Medium High, and then High.  The adapter still connected go the "Basement" access point.  Oh a whim, I changed the setting to the lowest values, and again no change.

 

I think my next move, unless you or anyone else has a better idea, is to compare those Advanced Properties on the Wifi adapter to those on my Microsoft Surface (which hands off properly).
