Hi @Karenl77,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your laptop has been inactive for a while, which could lead to issues with outdated drivers or regional settings. Here's what we can do to address the WiFi connectivity issue and keyboard symbol changes.

WiFi Connectivity Issues

Update WiFi Drivers: Since the laptop hasn't been used since 2019, the drivers might be outdated. If possible, connect to the internet using an Ethernet cable and follow these steps:

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Go to Network adapters.
  3. Right-click on the WiFi adapter and select Update driver.
  4. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

Reset Network Settings:

  1. Open Settings > Network & Internet.
  2. Scroll down and click Network reset.
  3. Follow the instructions to reset and restart your laptop.

Check for Windows Updates: Ensure your system is up to date by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

Keyboard Changing Symbols

Check Language Settings:

  1. Open Settings > Time & Language > Language.
  2. Ensure that the input language is set to the correct one (e.g., English US or UK).
  3. Remove any unnecessary languages under the Preferred languages section.

Change Keyboard Layout:

  1. Go to Settings > Time & Language > Keyboard.
  2. Ensure the layout is set to your preferred format (e.g., US QWERTY).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
