My Laptop starts normally but with the internet not connected and im having to restart it in order for it to connect back. this issue started a while back ago, but after a couple months its gotten really bad. It would happen whilst im using the laptop and would have to restart it in order for it to connect back.

The issue also lies in the settings, whenever i go into the Wi-fi settings, it either freezes and wont moves until i restart or wont let me click on the wifi part at all.

When it does freeze however i can still use my laptop smoothly, apart from the fact that the wifi isn't connected.

This happens to the Bluetooth section as well.

I was just wondering if its because my laptops aging or something else.

Thank you,

Tuncay

Hi @Tb137,

Thanks for sharing the details.

If your HP Pavilion laptop 14-dv0xxx is unable to connect to Wi-Fi on startup but connects after a restart, this could be due to a driver issue, a startup setting, or a power management setting. Here are a few steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Update Wi-Fi Driver:

  • Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause connectivity issues.
  • Go to Device Manager:
    • Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
    • Expand Network adapters, right-click your Wi-Fi adapter (usually something like "Realtek" or "Intel"), and select Update driver.
    • Choose Search automatically for drivers to allow Windows to find and install the latest drivers.

Alternatively, you can go to HP’s support website, search for your model, and manually download the latest Wi-Fi driver.

2. Disable Power Saving for Wi-Fi Adapter:

  • Sometimes, the power management settings can cause the Wi-Fi adapter to behave unexpectedly during startup.
  • In Device Manager:
    • Right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter, select Properties.
    • Go to the Power Management tab and uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
    • Click OK and restart your laptop.

3. Run Windows Network Troubleshooter:

  • Run the built-in Windows troubleshooter to detect and fix network issues:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
    • Select Internet Connections and run the troubleshooter to fix any network issues.

4. Turn Off Fast Startup:

  • Fast Startup can sometimes cause problems with hardware initialization, including the Wi-Fi adapter.
  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do > Change settings that are currently unavailable.
  • Scroll down and uncheck Turn on fast startup.
  • Click Save changes and restart your laptop.

5. Reset Network Settings:

  • If the issue persists, try resetting the network settings:
    • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
    • Scroll down and select Network reset.
    • Follow the prompts to reset your network settings, then restart your computer.

6. Check BIOS Settings (if needed):

  • In some rare cases, Wi-Fi settings in the BIOS could cause connection issues at startup. You can try resetting BIOS settings to default:
    • Restart your laptop and press F10 during boot to enter the BIOS.
    • Look for an option to reset BIOS to default, save changes, and exit.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
