Can someone please help as I’m going round in circles.
The latest HP update has removed my wifi from my laptop, I’ve tried pretty much everything suggested online and it still keeps disconnecting and every 15 mins or so I have to go through troubleshooting with the HP Smart Support. I’m on Windows 11 and I don’t know what the update was, it started before I shut down last night and this morning it’s a problem.
im not techie and so unsure if I need to reinstall something, if so, what and where do I find it please?
im struggling to work and so pretty desperate to get this resolved.
Thank you to anyone who can help 🐵

Hi @KateD3,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating it can be when a recent update disrupts your Wi-Fi connectivity. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you resolve the issue with your Wi-Fi after the latest HP update on Windows 11:
1. Restart Your Computer and Router
Restart Computer:
- A simple restart can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.
Restart Router:
- Unplug your router for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and wait for it to fully restart.
2. Check Wi-Fi Status and Settings
Ensure Wi-Fi is Enabled:
- Windows Settings: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi and make sure Wi-Fi is turned on.
Check Network List:
- Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the system tray and make sure your network is listed and try connecting to it.
3. Update or Reinstall Network Drivers
Update Drivers:
- Open Device Manager: Right-click the Start menu and select Device Manager.
- Find Network Adapters: Expand Network adapters.
- Update Driver: Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter and select Update driver. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
Reinstall Drivers:
- Open Device Manager.
- Uninstall Driver: Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter and select Uninstall device. Restart your computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
4. Roll Back Driver (If Update Caused the Issue)
- Roll Back Driver:
- Open Device Manager.
- Find Network Adapters: Expand Network adapters.
- Properties: Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter and select Properties.
- Driver Tab: Go to the Driver tab and select Roll Back Driver if available.
5. Run Network Troubleshooter
- Use Windows Troubleshooter:
- Open Settings: Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Run Troubleshooter: Find Network Adapter and click Run.
6. Check for Windows Updates
- Update Windows:
- Open Settings: Go to Settings > Windows Update.
- Check for Updates: Click Check for updates to see if there are any additional updates available that might fix the issue.
7. Reset Network Settings
- Network Reset:
- Open Settings: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings.
- Network Reset: Click on Network reset and follow the instructions. Note that this will remove all network adapters and set everything back to default.
8. Reinstall HP Smart App
- Reinstall HP Smart:
- Uninstall HP Smart: Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features, find HP Smart, and uninstall it.
- Reinstall HP Smart: Download and reinstall HP Smart from the Microsoft Store or HP’s official website.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
