When i installed this, it told me something about an ethernet driver being installed and then two separate prompts, one looking for drivers for unknown device and the other for ethernet controller, i tried multiple times through device manager to install them by pointing to both the atheros directory for driver created in program files AND the files that the sp54972.exe extracts however nothing is installing me a driver for the wifi

Also everytime the pc boots up it tells me new hardware is detected and gives those same two prompts. Happens whenever i rerun the installer aswell.

You need this driver for the ethernet controller:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp37501-38000/sp37730.exe

Post the hardware ID's for any of the devices needing drivers including the wifi adapter which should be labeled as a Network Controller.

Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device:

How to Find Drivers for Unknown Devices in the Device Manager

The sp37730 is the wrong file, its nvidia nforce driver which i already installed (through usb file transfer).

As i said, I need wifi drivers. Not ethernet. I dont use ethernet.

Anyway, prior to driver installation of sp54972.exe, there are two ethernet controllers with missing drivers in device manager. Installing the driver takes care of one of them, and in my network adapters i now have Atheros AR5007 wifi adapter, yet still no wifi capability from the laptop.

Here are all the Other devices:

 You're very welcome.

sp37730 is not the wrong file.

The nForce chipset driver will install:

Ethernet controller

Coprocessor

SM Bus Controller

You need this driver for the Base System Devices:

sp45112.exe

I believe that you need this driver for the ACPI\HPQ0007:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp49001-49500/sp49104.exe

I believe that you need this driver for the HDAUDIO\FUNC_02&VEN_14F1&DEV_5051
