Windows 11

Hello. My WiFi icon has looked like this with my home WiFi for a few days. I've tried what I've seen on the internet, like rolling back, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, and turning on Bluetooth/ airplane mode on and off again. I also used command prompt to insert some codes, nothing has worked so far. I connected my computer to another WiFi and it works as expected. With my home WiFi, everything takes forever to load and it frequently disconnects. Doesn't improve much even when directly beside the router. The device doesn't have an ethernet port (I think that's what it's called). Every other device works great with my WiFi, only my computer is acting this way. Any help is appreciated.

Hi @Ginger_Honey ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you've already tried several troubleshooting steps, but let's go through a more comprehensive list of solutions to see if we can resolve the low WiFi signal issue on your HP Laptop running Windows 11:

Update WiFi Drivers:

  • Visit the HP support website for your laptop model (HP Laptop 15-dy1xxx) and download the latest WiFi drivers compatible with Windows 11.
  • Install the updated drivers and restart your laptop.

Check Power Management Settings:

  • Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager."
  • Locate your WiFi adapter under "Network adapters," right-click on it, and select "Properties."
  • Go to the "Power Management" tab and make sure the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked.

Change WiFi Channel:

  • Log in to your router settings (you can usually access this by typing the router's IP address into a web browser).
  • Change the WiFi channel to avoid interference from other devices in your area.

Reset TCP/IP:

  • Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
  • Type the following commands one by one and press Enter after each:
  •  netsh winsock reset

  • netsh int ip reset

  • ipconfig /release

  • ipconfig /renew

Flush DNS Cache:

  • Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
  • Type the following command and press Enter:

Forget and Reconnect to WiFi Network:

  • Open Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi.
  • Click on your WiFi network and select "Forget."
  • Reconnect to the WiFi network by entering the password.

Disable IPv6:

  • Go to Network and Sharing Center.
  • Click on your active connection.
  • In the new window, uncheck "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)."

Check for Interference:

  • Make sure there are no other electronic devices or obstacles causing interference with the WiFi signal.

Perform Network Troubleshooter:

  • Open Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Run the "Internet Connections" troubleshooter.

Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP):

  • If none of the above solutions work, it's possible that the issue is with your ISP. Contact them and ask if there are any known issues or if they can help troubleshoot the problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
