HP - 15-ay007nv

I have a 300mbps internet connection in my house. My smartphone reaches this speed. unfortunately, my laptop runs up to 50 - 60 mbps, either wireless or via lan. Is there any solution?

@GEOJXAN, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Internet Speed on HP 15-ay007nv!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Update Network Drivers: Ensure that the network drivers for your laptop (both wireless and LAN) are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

Check Network Settings:

  • Ensure that your router is properly configured and other devices are not consuming excessive bandwidth.
  • Try changing the Wi-Fi channel on your router to minimize interference from other networks.

Use 5GHz Wi-Fi: If your router supports dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz), connect to the 5GHz network as it tends to have less interference and higher bandwidth.

Disable Background Applications: Applications running in the background might be using up network resources. Check for and disable any unnecessary applications or services.

Check LAN Connection: Ensure that the LAN cable is properly connected and not damaged. Try using a different Ethernet cable to rule out any cable-related issues.

Adjust Power Management Settings:

  • Access ‘Device Manager’ on your laptop.
  • Locate your network adapter and right-click to access ‘Properties’.
  • Under the ‘Power Management’ tab, untick the option that allows the computer to turn off the device to save power.

Reboot Your Router: Sometimes, simply rebooting your router can resolve speed issues.

Speed Test: Conduct multiple speed tests at different times of the day to check for consistency. This can help identify if the issue is time-specific.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
