Hi, I am trying to upgrade my WiFi card to MT7921NG but only Bluetooth appears on Device Manager. I also check hidden devices but not even its name appears. The seller I bought from said it is caused by firmware, although I have updated my BIOS with the latest version on HP Support.

Does that mean my laptop's firmware is not compatible or the card is faulty?

Thanks

(UPDATE)

I tested the MT7921 on my friend's laptop (which already had MT7921) and it worked. On the other hand, his MT7921 didn't work with my Victus. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot?

Hi @Vlarity

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you're trying to upgrade your HP Victus with an MT7921 Wi-Fi card. Since the MT7921 works correctly in another laptop, and a different MT7921 card also fails to be detected in your HP Victus, the issue is likely related to system compatibility, BIOS support, or the laptop's hardware configuration rather than the wireless card itself. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Perform a hard reset

  • Shut down the laptop.
  • Disconnect the AC adapter.
  • Press and hold the Power button for 15–20 seconds.
  • Reconnect the adapter and power on the laptop.

Check BIOS settings

  • Restart the laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter the BIOS.
  • Load the BIOS defaults by pressing F9, then select Yes.
  • Press F10 to save and exit.
  • If your BIOS has Wireless or WLAN settings, ensure they are enabled.

Verify Device Manager

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Click View > Show hidden devices.
  • Expand Network adapters and Other devices.
  • If the MT7921 does not appear at all, Windows is not detecting the hardware.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi, thanks for the reply.

However, I already did hard reset multiple time and already check on Device Manager but MT7921 never appear.

For BIOS, there is no such thing as WLAN/LAN settings. The only Network related settings is Network Boot. My BIOS version is AMI F.27, 7/5/2026

Hi @Vlarity

Thank you for responding.

As the wireless card has been verified to work in another laptop, and another compatible MT7921 card also fails to be detected in your HP Victus, this points to a compatibility limitation or system-level issue with the notebook rather than a fault with the wireless card itself.

Based on the information provided, the MediaTek MT7921NG is not officially supported or recognized by your system.

Have a good day.

Hi, just a quick question. Should I go for AX200?

Hi @Vlarity

Thank you for responding.

If you are considering replacing the card with an Intel AX200, it is generally a better-supported option and is compatible with many HP Victus systems. However, I cannot officially confirm compatibility unless the Intel AX200 is listed as a supported wireless module for your exact notebook model in the Maintenance and Service Guide or Parts List.
