Hello,

I'm using a Mac OS X 10.7.5, which does not recognize my HP Officeject Pro 8600 Plus when trying to print wirelessly.  I have confirmed that both are connected to my wireless network, and ran a Wireless Network Test from my printer, which said no problems were found.  However, when I try to print, I receive a message that the "Printer is not connected."

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Rsun,

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus and not printing with the wireless. Here is a link to the software for your Mac if you need it.

On the upper left corner of the computer desktop, click the Apple menu icon  and then click System Preferences on the drop-down menu.
1. Click Print & Fax in Mac OS X 10.6 or Print & Scan in OS X 10.7 to open the Printers list.
2. In the Printers list, select your HP printer, and then click the Minus button  to delete it.
3. Exit all open windows or programs, and then restart the computer.
4. When the computer restarts, click the Apple menu icon  and then click System Preferences on the drop-down menu.
5. Click Print & Fax to open the Printers list.
6. If the printer does not automatically add to the Printers list, click the Add button.
7. Select your HP printer from the list, and then click Add . After a few seconds, the printer displays in the Printers list.
8. Try printing again.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Hi Mrs. Tenter, thanks for your help.  I took the steps that you described and tried printing again.  The print queue message box says "Printing", and then a minute or so after, reports that printer is idle and my printer takes no action.  After restarting both computer and printer, the message remains the same.  I've confirmed again that both the computer and printer are connected to my wireless network.  Any tips on how to proceed?

Hey Rsun,

Could you reset your wireless device?  Sounds like the signal is being lost after the Mac sends the print job.

Please let me know.

Thanks.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot next time I'm at my parent's house!  (Helping my parents with this one...)

My computer isn’t listed in the menu, only default, windows and something else and when I click on default or any of them,  I can’t manually type in the rest of what they’re asking for. It was recognized at one time but I was having trouble faxing so I removed it and put it back, but then it was listed under the IP address and I wanted it listed under the name of my printer which I had to add manually but I didn’t like having my printer listed under two different names so I removed it again and I want to put it under its name like it was originally, not under an IP address.
