Hi @Dartagnan51,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating experience with your Bluetooth mouse. Imagine the smooth glide of your fingers on the touchpad, effortlessly navigating through tasks, while the Bluetooth mouse feels sluggish and unresponsive, like trying to run in molasses. Each time you click, there's a lag—an echo of your command that just doesn’t resonate with the speed of your thoughts.
Let's address this step by step:
Feeling the Frustration:
- You might notice the mouse freezes, disrupting your workflow and making it hard to focus. The touchpad, on the other hand, responds quickly, almost like a dancer keeping perfect time with the music, while your mouse drags behind.
Identifying the Cause:
- You’ve sensed that your CPU is busy, like a bustling city street, with too many programs competing for attention. Windows Defender and its constant scans feel like an uninvited guest—always there, consuming resources and leaving little room for your mouse to operate smoothly.
Taming Windows Defender:
- If Windows Defender feels overwhelming, consider adjusting its settings. You can schedule scans for times when you're not using the laptop or exclude certain folders to reduce its resource consumption. This way, it’s like putting a soothing balm on the hectic buzz of activity, allowing your Bluetooth mouse to glide freely.
Reducing Background Programs:
- Take a moment to feel the weight of those unnecessary programs. Open your Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and see what's consuming resources. Disabling or uninstalling any non-essential applications can lighten the load on your CPU, creating space for your mouse to function effortlessly.
Checking Bluetooth Settings:
- Sometimes, the connection itself can feel shaky. Make sure your Bluetooth drivers are up to date, like polishing a gem to let it shine brighter. You can do this by visiting the HP support site or using Windows Update.
Resetting the Mouse:
- Consider unpairing and then re-pairing your Bluetooth mouse. It’s like giving it a fresh start, clearing away any cobwebs that may have built up in the connection.
Exploring Other Options:
- If the Bluetooth mouse continues to misbehave, perhaps try using a USB mouse temporarily. This could be a smooth alternative, providing a quick fix while you troubleshoot the Bluetooth issue.
By making these adjustments, you should notice a change. The mouse could start to respond more like the touchpad—quick, fluid, and in sync with your commands, allowing you to navigate your tasks with the grace and ease you desire.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
