Hi @McFist,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Envy laptop may be experiencing a software or hardware issue following the Windows update. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

  • Force Restart: Press and hold the power button for about 10-15 seconds until the laptop turns off. Then, turn it back on to see if it resolves the non-responsive state.
  • Safe Mode: Try booting into Safe Mode. This can help determine if the issue is caused by a third-party application or driver. To access Safe Mode, restart your laptop and repeatedly press the F8 key (or Shift + F8) as it boots up. From there, you can try uninstalling recent updates or drivers that may be causing the issue.
  • System Restore: If you can access the Advanced Startup Options menu, you might consider using System Restore to revert your system to a previous point before the Windows update. This can undo recent changes that might have caused the crash.
  • Check Hardware: Sometimes, hardware issues like loose connections or failing components can cause similar symptoms. Ensure that all connections are secure and consider performing a hardware diagnostic test if possible.
  • Recovery Options: If the above steps don't work, you might need to consider using recovery options like booting from a recovery USB or performing a Windows repair installation to fix any corrupted system files.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
