HP X2 210 G2
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

JI have a new HP X2 210 G2 that does not find my HP USB to Ethernet adaptor. It does find and work on the wireless. It has found the adapter, somehow, in the past, but then the wirelss didn't work. I rebooted and now the USB to ethernet won't work regardless of what I do. I like having the option of the ehternet for large files.

Thank you,

Hello 🙂

Now as the ethernet adapter not been found in the unit, you may have a check with these following steps:

> > At first, we have go a basic thing to do i.e. to check if in case the Wi-Fi is turned ON. If it is, please turn off the Wi-Fi,

as  it might tell you that  Ethernet is working.

>> If this doesn't resolve the issue, in windows type VIEW NETWORK and go to NETWORK CONNECTIONS. In that, right click on Local Area Connection and enable it if it is disabled.

>> If that also doen't fix it, check with the router that you are using by placing the ethernet cable to some other port of router, if that works, then the router is faulty. You might also try replacing the ethernet cable with another cable in order to check if the cable was faulty.

>> If still nothing works, go to DEVICE MANAGER, select NETWORK ADAPTORS, right click on the ETHERNET ADAPTOR and uninstall it. After that Reboot to reinstall the driver.

Hi

The finding / losing of network hardware is a little puzzling, so can they be seen in Device Manager?  Especially when the Show Hidden Devices is ticked?

You may need to look in USB as well as Network.

If they are visible then it should be reasonably easy to install drivers.

If i doubt please ask.
